Breitling World War II US Navy navigator’s chronograph featuring 18 jewels, in excellent working condition. The chronograph functions start, stop, and reset smoothly. Although the Breitling signature on the dial is etched and may be difficult to discern in photos, it is present under the top register. The chrome metal case exhibits normal wear and bears reference number 1538, mfg.part number 605A, serial number, and count number. The black dial is pristine with white Arabic numerals, an outer chronograph track, white hands, a minute recorder at 12 o’clock, and sub-seconds at the 6 o’clock position, along with a white sweep second hand. The movement is a ¾ plate nickel movement adjusted to three positions with a Micrometric regulator, and the movement bridge is marked Breitling Watch Ltd. Three adjustments with 18 jewels, Swiss. The inside of the case is also marked Breitling Watch Ltd. Swiss. This chronograph represents a rare example of a wartime timepiece commissioned by the US services from one of Switzerland’s leading manufacturers, and we believe it to be the only one produced by Breitling.
